Bureau of Indian Standards on Thursday released the National Lighting Code aimed to conserve energy and minimize light pollution. Releasing the Code, Consumer Affairs Secretary Rajiv Aggarwal said that efforts should be made to encourage affordable and efficient lighting techniques to provide maximum benefits to consumers.Mr Aggarwal said that the code will be voluntary and will not have any legal bindings. AIR Correspondent reports that the National Lighting Code, NLC 2010 is applicable to the lighting systems in large variety of installations including like hospitals, sports complexes, metro and railways.
