<span style="color: #222222;">Consumer Affairs Secretary Leena Nandan has said that Bureau of Indian Standards, BIS have achieved many milestones in its journey of development and played an important role in the growth of the country. Briefing the media in New Delhi, Ms Nandan said, BIS has taken up many new initiatives and these new initiatives will improve efficiency of the manufacturing sector, standardisation and Quality of products. She said, BIS is working very closely with many Ministries in developing and coming out with many new standards. A booklet on BIS reforms was also launched on this occasion.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp; </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Director General, Bureau of Indian Standards P K Tiwari said, the services of BIS standards are now available free of cost for everyone. He said, in the area of Standardization, this is planned to be achieved through a combination of processes engineering, automation and manpower augmentation. Mr Tiwari&nbsp; informed that BIS have nearly 21 thousand Indian Standards. He said, the objective is to ensure genius standard for every product relevant for the national economy and consumers. Mr Tiwari said, the Scheme of One Nation One Standard has been launched to harmonize the standard formulation work happening in various organizations.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp; </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The BIS DG said, to make Hallmarking of gold jewellery and artefacts a credible and transparent process, BIS has taken steps like Online and automatic system of jeweller registration, Automation of the entire process of the assaying and Hallmarking, Mobile App based system of Market Surveillance and audit of Assaying and Hallmarking Centres. He said, Certificate Course in Hallmarking has been launch to ensure the availability of qualified manpower.</span>
