The Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is celebrated as a National Integration Day. Popularly known as the Iron Man of India, Sardar Patel has played an important role in the integration of Independent India. Born in Nadiad of Kheda district in Gujarat on 31st October 1875, Sardar Patel also played a key role in the launching of the most successful milk cooperative movement in Gujarat.<br />”&nbsp;<b></b><br />”<span style="color: #222222;">During the early forties under the British rule, the milk contractors of Polson company in Kheda district were supplying the milk to the Bombay Milk Scheme. But, due to its monopoly, they exploited the milk producing farmers. After the growing discontent in the farmers, they met Sardar Patel in 1942. Sardar Patel had advised them to create the farmers' cooperative. <br />”<br />”On his advice, farmers of Kheda District launched a campaign to organize a dairy cooperative, which paved the way for the AMUL model of dairy development in India. Today, the Amul dairy under the milk cooperative movement provides round the year market to the milk producers. <br />”<br />”Effective governance by elected representatives of farmers and professional management are the main features of this milk cooperative. The profits are being shared by the members of the dairy cooperatives on an equitable basis. The man behind this movement was none other than Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.</span><br />
