In Assam, culling of 30 thousand birds has been ordered in Dhubri district on Saturday after Bird flu virus was detected there. The Deputy Commissioner of Dhubri, Sunil Dutta said that outbreak of bird flu was confirmed after blood samples and carcasses were sent for testing. He also said that so far, culling of birds in 14 villages of Agomoni area bordering Bangladesh, have been ordered so far. It is likely to be completed within three days. Compensation to over three thousand families will be given in the first round of culling.Meanwhile, District administration, with the help of health department, has launched awareness drive in the district to prevent the spread of the disease. There are no reports yet of bird flu spreading to other districts of the state.
