The High Security Animal Disease Laboratory (HSADL), Bhopal has confirmed H5N1 strain of Avian Influenza in state government’s poultry firm at Gandhigram, outskirt of Agartala today. Around 2500 chickens reported to have died in the government farm in last many days and due to this unnatural death of Chickens blood samples were sent to the High Security Animal Disease Laboratory (HSADL), Bhopal. According to the Director of Tripura Animal Resource Development Department on Friday night the report from HSADL was received which confirmed Bird Flu. He further said that monitoring has already been put in place in the farm and in the adjoining areas and culling is expected to start soon. As part of the procedure all the Chickens in an around the radius of 3 kilometer of the outbreak will be culled. Tripura reported Bird Flu in January of this Year from the ICAR farm, the culling and the mopping operation ended last month only.
