In Meghalaya, culling of birds continued for the second consecutive day today in view of outbreak of bird flu at Williamnagar of East Garo Hills district.A 13-member Rapid Response Team disposed off more than 400 birds within the three kilometre radius of the government-run farm where birds were tested positive for H1N1 virus. State Veterinary Director L Lyngwa said five hundred and sixty-two infected fowls in the farm were culled last night.He said more than 24,000 birds within 10 kilometre radius from the epicentre is expected to be culled in a phased-wise manner.Mr Lyngwa said the state government has rushed experts from Shillong to the affected area to contain the H1N1 virus.
