In Odisha, bird flu alert has been issued all over the state. The alert has been issued to all the 30 district collectors following detection of two bird flu positive cases in Keranga area in Khordha district of Odisha.The state government had sent about 370 blood samples of birds, mostly crows and poultry, to the High Security Animal Disease Laboratory in Bhopal , during the last fortnight after hundreds of crows died in some parts of the state.According to official sources, two of those samples have been tested positive for bird flu with positive HSN1 virus, one of a duck and anther of a chick from Keranga area in Khordha district. Meanwhile, the state government has asked the Khordha district administration to monitor health of all the birds in the district.The movement of birds from the affected area has also been stopped. Collector of Khordha, Rupa Mishra, said the district administration is keeping a close watch on the poultry firms in Khordha district and teams of veterinary doctors are testing every poultry farm.Secretary of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, Satyabrata Sahu said at Bhubaneswar that a high-level 3-member team has arrived on Monday evening from New Delhi to take stock of the bird-flu situation.Officials at the world famous Chilika Lake and Bhitarkanika wildlife sanctuary have also been told to keep watch on the migratory birds.
