In Assam, the Tea Board of India has prepared an ambitious scheme to provide Biometric Smart Card to about eighty thousand small tea growers . Executive Director of Tea Board Rakesh Saini told newspersons in Guwahati on Tuesday, he said the scheme is to be launched at Tezpur on 28th of this month. He said it sort out the problems of registration of small tea growers besides providing them financial assistance and sell tea leaf at Tea Board’s recommended price. Assam produces more than 50 per cent of the country’s total tea production.
