Bill to safeguard waqf properties ready, says Union Minority Affairs Minister Najama Heptullah

Union Minority Affairs Minister Najama Heptullah has said that a bill to safeguard waqf properties is ready and will soon be sent to the cabinet. <br/><br/>Talking to media in Bhopal today, she said that waqf boards have properties of six lakh acre across the country. She said that public pressure may be used to free waqf properties from illegal encroachments. <br/><br/>Ms Heptullah stressed upon the need of making waqf property economically viable. Quoting Sacchar Committee report, she said that these properties can earn 12 thousand crore rupees annually. She also seconded idea of small family mooted by union minister Giriraj Singh recently. <br/><br/>She said that a small family is need of the hour as resources are limited. She said that the idea of family planning got so much bad publicity during the emergency that later governments refrained from talking about it. The minister said Narendra Modi government gave 25 per cent more money for scholarships of minority students.<br/><br/>Earlier Ms. Heptullah inaugurated a function of women writers in Bhopal. She also participated in a programme under Gram Uday se Bharat Uday campaign in Fanda village. This village has been adopted by her.
