Bill to fix minimum qualifications of a teacher in a school

A bill to fix minimum qualifications for a person to be employed as a teacher in schools was introduced in the Rajya Sabha today. <br/><br/>Introducing the bill, Human Resource Development Minister Mr.Kapil Sibal said, the objective of the bill is to ensure quality of teachers and thereby teaching in schools uniformly across the country. <br/><br/>The government says a new man power development scheme is being put in place to provide better mental health care treatment in the country.<br/><br/>In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, Health and Family Welfare Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad said a total of 1756 Post Graduate seats for mental health professionals will be added to the existing ones. <br/><br/>He informed the House that government is restructuring the National Mental Health Programme (NMHP) to improve response the problems by adding newer services in the form of Life Skills education in schools, college counseling services, suicide prevention services and workplace stress management. <br/><br/>Mr. Azad said an awareness activity at community level in 123 districts of the country is going on in the current plan period.<br/>
