Finance Minister Arun Jaitley introduced the State Banks (Repeal and Amendment) Bill 2017 in the Lok Sabha on Friday. It seeks to repeal the State Bank of India (Subsidiary Banks) Act of 1959, the State Bank of Hyderabad Act, 1956 and to further amend the State Bank of India Act, 1955. The legislation seeks to formalise the integration of its erstwhile subsidiaries – the State Banks of Bikaner and Jaipur, Hyderabad, Mysore, Patiala and Travancore.
