A bill was introduced in the Rajya Sabha to give teeth to the National Commission for Minorities Educational Institutions and make it more effective. Introducing the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (Amendment) Bill 2010, which has been passed by the Lok Sabha, HRD Minister Kapil Sibal said the Bill seeks to overcome the difficulties which the Commission faced after it came into being. The Bill expands the number of members of the commission to three from two, besides a Chairman.
