Rajya Sabha today referred the Enemy Property (Amendment and Validation) Bill 2016 to a select committee of the House. The proposal to send the Bill to a select committee was moved by Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

The Bill was passed by Lok Sabha last week. It seeks to amend a 48-year-old law to guard against claims of succession or transfer of properties left by people, who migrated to Pakistan and China after the wars. The select committee will give its report during the beginning of the second part of Budget Session.
