Bill for prevention, control of HIV and protection of Human rights introduced in RS

A bill to provide for the prevention and control of the spread of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Syndrome (HIV) and for the protection of human rights of persons affected by virus was introduced in the Rajya Sabha today.<br/><br/>Introducing the Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (Prevention and Control) Bill 2014, Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda said it was introduced in the Upper House in February 2014 after consultations with people in 29 ministries and 21 departments. <br/><br/>Initiating the discussion, Jairam Ramesh of the Congress said that he will support bill. He underlined the need for providing higher budgetary allocation for NACO and blood banks. Dr. Prabhakar Kore of the BJP described the bill as historic one. He said the bill will help in wiping out the social stigma for the people living with HIV.
