Bill for Darjeeling in next session of WB Assembly

The West Bengal Government has reached an agreement with Gorkha Janmukti Morcha to settle Darjeeling crisis giving more autonomy to hill people. Announcing this in Kolkata on Tuesday, the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that an agreement was signed between the West Bengal Government and Gorkha Janmukti Morcha after two day's Secretary level talks. Describing the day as a historic one, Ms.Banerjee said that she would urge the Center to convene tri-partite level meeting within a week to endorse the Secretary level agreement. Later speaking to newsmen, the State Chief Secretary Mr. Samar Ghosh said that a new autonomous body will be set up in Darjeeling. A Bill to this effect will be placed in the next session of the state Assembly. The body will be formed through election in the hills.
