Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh said that Bihar’s food grain and food subsidy allocation would be doubled under the National Food Security Act.
Addressing a press conference in Patna on Sunday Ramesh said that Bihar’s allocation of foodgrain will increase from 28 lakh tones to 56 lakh tones and food subsidy will increase from Rs 5,500 crore to Rs 11, 500 crore.
He also said that Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra and Gujarat will get the maximum benefit under the bill.
He said that in Bihar the Public Distribution system, PDS is in bad shape and now it is high time to bring a change in the PDS network in state to implement the food security bill in a proper manner.
Ramesh also said that the new Land Acquisition Bill ensure that the displaced dalits, tribals and farmers get their due rights. He said that congress will asks people to vote them on the basis of the good work that carried out in form of development schemes. Minister also said that all new development bills will be the main agenda for the congress party in next election.
