In Bihar, a six-member Central team led by Piyush Goel, Joint Secretary in Home Ministry visited flood affected areas of the state and assessed the extent of damage. Before returning to Delhi today, the team held a review meeting with Chief Secretary and officials of the State Disaster Management Department.<br />''<br />''The Central team has asked the State Government to prepare it's own estimate of the damage caused in 16 flood-affected districts. The Central team would compare the data collected and make its own assessment to quantify damage caused in affected districts. The team will submit its report to the Central Government for assistance.<br />''<br />''The team visited the worst affected Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur and Gopalganj districts to assess the situation. The team met affected people and inquired about ongoing relief and rescue operations. It also reviewed the Corona pandemic situation in flood ravaged areas of the state.<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, over 83 lakh 62 thousand people spread over 1,333 Panchayats of 16 districts are reeling under the impact of floods.<br />''<br />''Twenty one teams of NDRF and SDRF are carrying out relief and rescue operations. Over five lakh 50 thousand people have been evacuated so far. Sixteen community kitchen centres have been set up to provide food to flood affected people. Standing crops spread over seven lakh fifty thousand hectares in 20 districts have been destroyed due to floods. Over 4,700 rural roads have also been damaged.<br />
