The Bihar government has sought 4,000 additional paramilitary personnel from the Centre to deal with the sudden spurt in Naxal violence in the state. Official sources said in New Delhi that the request for 40 companies is being examined by the Home Ministry and a decision will be taken soon. Around 2,400 paramilitary personnel are already in Bihar assisting the state police in dealing with the Maoists.Sources said, a comprehensive plan is being worked out to launch a joint operation along the Bihar-Jharkhand border to flush out militants hiding there.AIR Patna Correspondent K.K. Lal reports that this decision to seek additional central forces was taken in an emergency meeting convened by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He has also convened an all-party meeting in Patna tomorrow to discuss the ongoing hostage crisis.Meanwhile, the bullet-riddled body of kidnapped Bihar Military Police havildar Lucas Tete was today recovered from Lakhisarai as the Maoist deadline for killing three remaining hostages expired. The Maoists had kidnapped sub-inspectors Rupesh Kumar and Abhay Prasad Yadav, BMP havildar Ehtesham Khan and Tete five days ago after an encounter in Lakhisarai district.Six Bihar Military Police personnel, officer-in-charge of Kawaiya police outpost Bhulan Yadav and a policeman were killed in the gunfight. Naxals have been demanding release of their 8 comrades in exchange for the three captive security men.
