In Bihar, 50 candidates filed their nomination papers yesterday for the first phase of elections to be held on October 21. With this total number of nomination papers filed has gone up to 61. Seven candidates have filed their nomination papers for the second phase of elections. The Janta Dal (United) has released the list of 54 candidates for the first and second phase of elections. The Samajwadi party has released the first list of 109 candidates. CPI has also released the list of 58 candidates. AIR Patna correspondent reports that there is resentment among supporters of BJP and Janata Dal (United) over ticket distribution. Janata Dal (United) has denied tickets to ten sitting MLAs and BJP has not given tickets to four sitting MLAs. Senior leader of Janta Dal (United) and MP Upendra Kuswaha has resigned from the post of National General Secretary alleging discrimination in distribution of party tickets. On the other hand party MP Purnamasi Ram alleged that tickets were given without consultation with MPs. He announced that he will campaign for the congress. Shiv Prassan Yadav has submitted his resignation from the membership of MLC to Party President Sharad Yadav. Four BJP MLAs who have denied tickets declared that they will contest the elections as an independent candidate.
