Power tariff has been hiked in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission has increased the present tariff by 5 to 12 percent under various categories. This will come in to force from tomorrow. The move will fetch an additional revenue of over 348 crore rupees and bail out the state electricity board, which is in the red.In Madhya Pradesh, domestic power consumers will have to pay seven percent more as power tariff from 10th of the next month. The new power tariff for different categories was announced by the state power regulatory commission today. Talking to the media in Bhopal, Chairman of the commission said that power distribution companies had demanded an average increase of 24 percent but the commission has given sanction for only 7.7 percent.
