Bihar Govt starts hiring women home guards

For the first time, the Bihar Government has started the process to recruit women home guards for urban areas. AIR Patna Correspondent reports that a total of 15,820 home guards jawans will be recruited. As many as 1582 women home guards are to be recruited as per 10 per cent reservation for women. Extra facilities would be provided to the women home guards. Director General of Police Neelmani told AIR that the recruitment would help women empowerment. He said Bihar was the first state, which established all-women police stations at several places throughout the state. An all-women battalion of Bihar Military Police (BMP) has already been created which is stationed at Sasaram. It comprises 700 personnel, besides Commandant and Deputy Superintendent of Police.
