In Bihar, the State Governor Devanand Konwar approved the Bihar Lokayukta Bill 2011 passed by both the houses of the State Legislature during the winter session. The new Lokayukta will bring the Chief Minister, Ministers and officers under the purview. The Speaker of the State Assembly and the Chairman of the Legislative Council besides former Chief Minister, Ministers and legislatures have also come under its ambit. The Lokayukta will also have under its scanner public servants, government employees, Corporations and organisations receiving government grants. As per the new provision, the Lokayukta is a multi-member body comprising one chairman and two members. Of the three, at least 2 persons shall be judicial members. The Five member selection committee headed by the Chairman of the legislative council will have power to put in place a search committee of members from the judiciary.
