In Bihar, amidst tight security arrangements over 40% voting turnout was recorded in the ongoing sixth and final phase of elections in 26 Assembly constituencies of the state.AIR correspondent K K Lal reports that there is a report of brisk polling in almost all the constituencies.In 18 Naxal-affected constituencies, polling will conclude at 3 pm due to security reasons. Polling will continue till 5 pm in remaining 8 constituencies.Encounter between security forces and Maoists is continuing in Kaimur hill area in Rohtash district. The Director General of Police Neelmani told AIR that none injured in this incident.He said Maoist have been encircled by security forces. Two BSF helicopter have been pressed into service for search operation.Two securitymen were injured in cane bomb explosion in Nagarpur panchayat area in Sherghati Assembly constituencies in Gaya district. They have been admitted to hospital for treatment. Six Maoists, including two area commanders, have been arrested in Sasaram during combing operation.Counting of votes will be on November 24. Over 60 lakh electorates will decide the political fortune of 426 candidates, including 43 women.Political bigwigs whose fate will be sealed in EVMs include Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary, Anil Kumar, Chedi Paswan and Awadesh Narayan singh. Besides former Union Minister Kanti Singh, State Samajwadi President Ramchandra Singh Yadav and State Janata Dal (Secular) President Dadan Singh Yadav are also in the fray. NDA, Congress, BSP and RJD- LJP alliance are contesting on all the seats. CPI is contesting from 7 seats and CPM is contesting on 02 seats. CPI (ML) is contest in 17 seats.Quoting official sources our correspondent Sunil Shukla reports maximum of 49.8 percent polling has been recorded at Aurangabad district followed by 49 percent at Rohtas, 46 percent Kaimur, 44.4 at Gaya and minimum 43.5 at Buxar district. As per reports available maximum of 53 percent voters exercised their franchise at highly sensitive Karakat segment from Rohtas district while 52 percent each has been recorded at Chenari and Aurangabad constituencies. Similarly 51 percent votes have been cast at 6 segments including Bhabhua, Chainpur, Dehri, Kutumba and Rafiganj. Polling was more or less peaceful and no untoward incident was reported from poll bound districts.
