In Bihar, the death toll due to encephalitis in Gaya district has gone up to 80. AIR Patna correspondent reports that it is an all time high against the previous high of 46 deaths registered in 2006.The inflow of patients to hospitals continues. Superintendent of Anugrah Narain Medical College Hospital told AIR that altogether 366 encephalitis patients were admitted to the hospital. Of these, 80 patients died and 226 were discharged after treatment. The remaining patients are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
