Bihar bans sale & production of Gutkha containing tobacco

Bihar government has banned the sale and production of Gutkha containing tobacco or nicotine. It has been banned for one year beginning today. AIR Patna correspondent reports that Bihar has become the third state after Madhya Pradesh and Kerala to ban these products.All those violating the regulations would be punished with one yearimprisonment along with three lakh rupees as fine. The designatedofficers and food safety officers have been directed to take necessaryaction to enforce the order.According to latest reports of the Global Adult Tobacco Survey, 54percent adults are using tobacco in some form or the other in Bihar.
