Bihar Assembly witnesses unruly scenes: Members of both opposition, rulling party assault each other

In Bihar Assembly, history of sorts was created when members of both opposition and rulling party assaulted each other and hurled chairs during the post lunch session leading to adjournment of the house till tomorrow. The pre-lunch session of the house had earlier been adjourned without taking up the question hour as opposition members stalled the proceedings demanding resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the issue of illegal withdrawal of over Eleven thousand four hundred crore rupees from treasuries across the state. AIR Patna correspondent reports that a free for all was witnessed in the house, as opposition and ruling party members came to blows, turned the table of the official reporters and threw chairs at the each other. At least twelve members received minor injuries . The situation took an ugly turn when a few opposition members who were raising slogans against the Chief Minister snatched papers from two rulling party members. Taking a serious note of unruly behavior by the opposition members, the Chief Minister signaled ruling party members to give a befitting reply to their opposition counterparts. In the midst of the melee, two ministers Giriraj Singh and Gautam Singh were seen pressing the top of the uprooted reporters table towards the main opposition RJD enclosure. They relented only after the dais of the leader of the opposition caved in. In this incident some opposition members received minor injuries. Leader of the opposittion Rabri Devi was not present in the house. Speaker Udai Narain Chaudhary,whose repeated pleas to restore order in the house was ignored and he adjourned the house after twenty minutes of unprecedented disorderely scenes. Meanwhile at least twenty opposition members have sat on an indefinite dharana inside the house demanding resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi in the aftermath of a CBI inquiry ordered by the patna high court in the alleged withdrawal of 11 thousand 412 crore rupees from various treasuries. The members staging on dharna are also demanding resignation of assembly speaker Udai Narain Choudhary for his alleged partisan role.
