In Uttar Pradesh nominations for biennial elections to the 13 seats of the Legislative Council and by election for one seat for Rajya Sabha has begun today with issuance notification by the state governor. Polling if required will be held on April 26.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that as per Election Commission schedule the last date of filing nominations is April 16. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Revenue Minister Ambika Chaudhary, party spokes person Rajendra Chaudhary and Dr. Madhu Gupta are included in the candidates list.The terms 13 MLCs who's terms are expiring on 5th of next month. They are Kashinath Yadav, Khwaja Halim, Dayaram Prajapati, Naresh Chand Uttam, Dr Rakesh Singh Rana, Dr Vinay Pratap, Ashok Dhawan, Ramapati Ram, Ram Naresh Rawat, Pradeep Kumar, Babu Singh Kushwaha, Sunil Kumar Chittor and Harpal Singh.In Bihar, The Election Commission issued notification for biennial elections for 11 legislative council seats. Among the prominent members whose tenure is set to expire on May 6th include Chief Minister Nitish Kumar , Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and the chairman of the legislative council Tarakant Jha.
