Bhuvneshwar Kumar wins ICC People's choice Award

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has won this year's ICC People's Choice Award. He now joins the ranks of Sachin Tendulkar, who was the first-ever recipient in 2010, Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara, who won it in 2011 and 2012, and Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who won it last year. This was announced at a press conference at the ICC Headquarters in Dubai today. Kumar was not able to attend the function. ICC Chief Executive Dave Richardson presented the award on his behalf to the Chairman of ICC Cricket Committee and the former Indian Captain Anil Kumble. In a pre recorded video message, Bhuvneshwar Kumar dedicated the award to his supporters and fans.<br/><br/>Anil Kumble said that in such a short span of time, Kumar has shown that sincere dedication and hard work pays off and he has set an example for young fast bowlers. The other nominees were South African paceman Dale Steyn, Australian speedster Mitchell Johnson, Sri Lanka's captain Angelo Mathews and England women's captain Charlotte Edwards. A panel of cricket experts, led by Anil Kumble with Jonathan Agnew, Russel Arnold, Stephen Fleming, and Betty Timmer as members shortlisted the names on the basis of attributes such as innovation, dynamism, strength in decision-making, performing well under pressure and executing a plan to distinction. ICC People's Choice is the only award based on voting by the public.
