Bhutan taking leading role for restoration of peace in NE state: Gogoi

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said Bhutan has taken a leading role for restoration of peace in the insurgency-hit North-Eastern state. Mr. Gogoi stated this when he met the King of the Country Jigmey Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck and the Prime Minister Jigmey Yoser Thinley at Thimphu in Bhutan on Tuesday. The Chief Minister is on a four-day visit to Thimphu on the invitation of the neighbouring kingdom. During the discussion, the King of Bhutan said he is eager to cooperate with Assam and India for faster socio-economic development in his country. The Prime Minister Thinley said his country will send a team of Members of the National Assembly to Assam soon to study the developmental activities. He urged the Chief Minister Mr. Gogoi to facilitate study of engineering and medical students from his country in Assam which is closer to the Kingdom.
