Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi have advanced to the semifinals of the Valencia Open tennis tournament. In the quarter-final at Valencia, Spain, today, the third-seeded duo beat Czech Frantisek Cermak and Slovakia's Michal Mertinak 6-3, 6-7, 10-6. Bhupathi and Mirnyi will next face top seeds Lukasz Kubot of Poland and Oliver Marach of Austria.In the same tournament, the combination of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-haq Qureshi have also sealed a quarter-final berth. The fourth-seeded Indo-Pak pair recorded a 7-6, 4-6, 14-12 win over Pablo Cuevas Uruguay and Argentine Juan Monaco in the opening round of the hard court event. Bopanna and Qureshi will take on Spaniards Marc Lopez and David Marrero in the second round.
