Bheora gets life term in Beant Singh killing case

Special CBI Court on Tuesday sentenced Babbar Khalsa International terrorist Paramjit Singh Bheora to life imprisonment in the former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh assassination case.The sentence was pronounced by the court inside the high security Burail jail of Chandigarh by Additional District and Sessions Judge R K Sondhi, heading the court. The court had yesterday held Bheora guilty in the case and had deferred the quantum of sentence for Tuesday.<br/><br/>Bheora one of the key conspirators was arrested in 1997 for his role in carrying out the blast outside the Punjab and Haryana Secretariat that killed Beant Singh on August 31, 1995. The blast carried out by human bomb Dilawar Singh left 17 persons dead and injured 18 others. According to the prosecution, Bheora was among those who procured the Considered a mastermind along with BKI India chief Jagtar Singh Hawara, he was accused of being one of the main conspirators. The CBI had booked nine persons for the assassination. While two were sentenced to death by the Special Court in July 2007, three were awarded life sentence one got 10-years imprisonment. One was acquitted in the case.<br/>
