A local court in Ahmedabad today adjourned the pronouncement of order on the maintainability of the remand revision application filed by the Gujarat government seeking custody of arrested IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, till the 10th of this month.
Principal Session judge G N Patel said he was unable to complete the order and it would now be pronounced on Monday.
The Gujarat government on the 3rd of this month had challenged in the sessions court, a magisterial court order denying remand of the suspended IPS officer, arrested for allegedly threatening and forcing a constable, K. D. Pant to sign a false affidavit.
Meanwhile, the hearing of the bail plea of Sanjiv Bhatt is to resume today. Sessions judge VK Vyas had adjourned the hearing on Bhatt's bail on the 5th of this month after hearing the arguments of his lawyer.
The court had earlier rejected the state government's application opposing the hearing of Bhatt's bail plea while the review petition of remand was pending before another judge.
Suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt was arrested on 30th last month and sent to judicial custody after the Ahmedabad rural court had rejected his police remand.
Sanjiv Bhatt had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court alleging complicity in post-Godhra riots by Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Later, he was charge sheeted by the state Government and suspended for alleged unauthorized absence from duty.
