The Government has modified rules to pave the way for eligibility of sportspersons for Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award of the country.Sports Minister Ajay Maken told reporters in New Delhi that the new rules provide that for performance of the highest order in any field of human endeavour Bharat Ratna could be awarded. He said with this decision sportspersons would also be eligible to get Bharat Ratna award.
