Bharat bandh called by the Opposition on demonetisation has failed to make impact in any part of the country, as no effect of the Bandh called by Left parties can be seen in the national capital. Shops and other establishments remain open, ignoring the call for bandh from some Opposition parties in protest against government's demonetisation move. Members of students wing of Congress party, NSUI gathered at Raisina Road and participated in 'Jan Akrosh rally' against demonetisation.<br/><br/>In Haryana and Chandigarh, transport services including inter-state buses are plying on roads as usual. The shops are opened as per routine. The educational institutions, business establishments and industry have not responded to the bandh. <br/><br/>In Uttar Pradesh, day to day activities are normal in the state and business establishments are functioning and markets are open. Educational institutions and government offices are also unaffected. At some places, Samajwadi Party and Congress workers held protest against the decision of demonetization today.<br/><br/>In Assam, vehicles are plying and business establishments remained open including in Guwahati. Educational institutes are also open.<br/><br/>Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament House and congratulated him on his decision to demonetise high value currency. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, she described the move as historic. Ms. Mufti said, the decision is good for the country in the future. <br/><br/>In Bihar, little impact was seen at some places. The JD (U) did not participate in either bandh or protest. Schools, Colleges, Offices, Banks and business establishments are functioning as usual. Rail traffic was disrupted in Darbhanga,Bhojpur,Bhagalpur and Jehenabad. Party workers of Congress, RJD and Left parties protested against the demonetisation decision. <br/><br/>In Tamil Nadu, all shops remain open and public transport is plying as usual. Traders associations have stayed away from the bandh call. The DMK, the Left, TMC and a few other parties are participating in the nationwide protests organized by the opposition. However, the ruling AIADMK and the MDMK are not joining the agitations. <br/><br/>Congress, Left, DMK, NCP, RJD and other parties today protested on demonetization in Parliament premises. MPs of these parties, joined by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, displayed posters and shouted slogans against the move and problems faced by the people in various places of the country. <br/><br/>In West Bengal, while the left parties have called a 12-hour bandh, Congress, AAP, JD (U) and Ms. Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress refrained from participating in the strike. <br/><br/>The Odisha government has decided to keep all government and private educational institutions closed today following the bandh .
