There were mixed response in the wake of Bharat Bandh call. The Left rule states have a positive response where as other states excluding Bihar has little or no response. <br/><br/>In West Bengal, suspected Maoists exploded land mine on railway track between Godapiyasal and Midnapur stations in West Midnapur District early hours today. According to official sources, a major accident was averted after the pilot engine of the Chakradharpur-Howrah passenger train noticed a huge crack on the track and stopped the train . Another land mine was also found along the track. <br/><br/>AIR Kolkata correspondent reports that train services of the eastern and south-eastern railways have been affected due to squatting on rail tracks by the bandh supporters at different places. <br/><br/>According to a rough estimate by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the total loss due to a 12-hour bandh in West Bengal would be approximately 500 crore rupees of the Gross State Domestic Product. ICC Senior Vice-President P Jayanta Roy said this mainly includes loss of investors' interests, damage to state's impression to prospective investors, damage to industrial climate, socio-political unrest etc.<br/><br/>In Bihar normal life has been thrown out of gear during bandh today. No violence has been reported so far. <br/>AIT Patna correspondent reports that Rail and road traffic have been distupted at several places through out the state. <br/>Trrain services on Patna-Howrah, Patna -Gaya and Kiul – Gaya rail section of East- Central Railway have been affected due to squatting on rail tracks by the bandh supporters at different places. <br/>Bandh supportes have stopped trains at Mokama, Darbhanga, Chapra ,and Muzaffarpur railway stations. <br/>Passengers are suffering a lot due to non availability of trains. Band Supporters indulged in arson. <br/>Both private and state-run bus services, taxis, auto-rickshaws and commercial vehicles kept off the roads. In the wake of the bandh, universities have postponed exams scheduled for the day. Party supporters of Lok Janshakati Party , RJD and Left parties held rallies at state capital Patna. <br/>LJP President Ram Vilash Paswan,CPI ( ML ) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattachary courted arrest along with their supporters. <br/>Over five hundred band supporters were arrested as a preventive measures at several places through out the state. <br/><br/>In Kerala, normal life has been affected due to the dawn-to-dusk bandh today. The bandh has been called by the Left and their allies to protest the Government's failure to check price rise. According to police, bandh supporters stopped trains at different stations. Both private and state-run bus services, taxis, auto-rickshaws and commercial vehicles kept off the roads. In the wake of the bandh, universities have postponed exams scheduled for the day.<br/><br/>In Orissa, security has been tightened throughout the state in view of strike called by seven non-Congress and non-BJP political parties in the state. About 2000 security personnel have been deployed in various places to deal with any eventuality during the strike.<br/><br/>In the state capital, shops, business establishments and commercial outfits remained closed during the bandh. The shut-down also affected normal life in various places like Cuttack, Berhampur, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Balasore, Puri, Balangir, Baripada and Khurda. Rail services were also affected in the state as trains were stopped at different stations for a brief period.<br/><br/>In Tamil Nadu , the nation wide strike called by opposition parties received very little response. Normal life remained unaffected with road, rail, and air traffic plying as usual. <br/><br/>Shops and business establishments remained open. Heavy police bandobust have been made in bus terminus, railway stations, airports besides central and state government establishments throughout the state.<br/><br/>In Chennai, over 200 left party workers were arrested when they attempted to block rail traffic.<br/><br/>Life remains normal in national capital. The strike called by the Left parties and their allies to protest price rise has failed to evoke any response in Delhi. Vehicles are plying as usual and shops and offices functioning normally. Those supporting the strike call took out a peaceful march in central Delhi's Daryaganj area.<br/><br/>Normal life was today hit in Tripura during the 12-hour nation-wide strike called by the Left and the non-BJP opposition parties. According to official sources, shops and markets were closed and vehicles were off the road in the state capital and across the state but there was no report of any untoward incident.<br/><br/>In Andhra Pradesh, the opposition sponsored Harthal protesting against price rise has evoked mixed response in the state today. In response to the nation wide bandh call given by 13-parties against price rise, the opposition parties including Telugu Desam Party, CPI and CPM have held protest demonstrations at several palaces across the state.<br/><br/>
