BGMEA panel to oversee disbursement of $40mn ILO funds for victims of factory collapse

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has formed a seven member committee to oversee the disbursement out of 40 million dollars ILO Fund to the victims of the Rana Plaza building collapse which killed over 1100 garment workers in April last year.Talking to reporters last night, Md Shahidullal Azim, Vice-President of BGMEA said 16 million dollars have been mobilized, and 3080 victims will be disbursed compensation before the anniversary on April 24. this year.Many people were killed in the tragedy and it left numerous workers maimed and wounded, rendering them unable to work.
