Better connectivity opens avenues for commercial activities: J&K CM

Linking development of roads with economic prosperity in hilly state like Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah today said that better connectivity buttresses overall development and opens avenues for commercial activities.Taking detailed review of Roads and Buildings sector at a high level meeting in Jammu, the Chief Minister emphasized on fast tracking the pace on projects aimed at upgrading road communication in the State. He said that opening up of far flung and remote areas for development and economic well being depends upon timely completion of projects launched in the connectivity sector. The Chief Minister also reviewed road up gradation projects and schemes for construction of bridges in Srinagar and Jammu Cities. He said that growth and development in the two Cities has put tremendous pressure on road communication adding there is urgent need to address this issue scientifically and through a perspective planning.Mr. Abdullah said that he would review the general situation and pace on development works with the District Development Commissioners regularly every fortnight through video conferencing.
