The Bombay High Court today gave its final judgement of the Best Bakery case of 2002 Gujrat riots. A division bench comprising Justices V.M. Kanade and P.D. Kode, has ordered the Gujarat government to pay 3 lakh rupees to each of the four witnesses in the case. The Court has ruled further that the compensation must be deposited with the Bombay High Court within eight weeks.
In its final judgement in the case, the Bombay High Court has ruled that the witnesses who have deposed, should be given protection by the Gujarat state government under the witness protection programme and moved to other cities if needed.
