In Cricket, India set a victory target of 447 before Sri Lanka in their second innings on day two of the second and final Test match of the series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The Hosts declared their 2nd innings 303 for 9 after bundling out the visitors for 109 within half an hour of resuming their innings in the day and night Test. For India, Shreyas Iyer with 67 , Rishabh Pant with 50 skipper Rohit Sharma with 46 were the top scorer.
For Sri Lanka, Praveen Jayawickrama picked four wickets and Lasith Embuldeniya claimed three while Vishwa Fernando and Dhananjaya de Silva also took one wicket each. Jasprit Bumrah took his first five-wicket haul on Indian soil.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant was registering the fastest fifty in Test cricket by an Indian. He scored 50 in 31 balls. With his brisk fifty, Pant broke Kapil Dev's 40-year record of the fastest Test fifty by an Indian batter.
Kapil Dev had scored a 30-ball half-century while batting against Pakistan in the Karachi Test in December, 1982. Despite his heroics, Pakistan went on to win the match by an innings and 86 runs.
