The pitch at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, which hosted the second Test between Australia and India last week, has been given a "below average" rating by the ICC match referee, Chris Broad. Earlier, Broad had rated the pitch for the Pune Test, which ended in just three days, as "poor". According to reports, Broad rated the pitch below average while outfield was termed very good. Broad's inference was drawn from the fact that pitch had variable bounce. The below average rating does not carry any penalty or fine. It is considered to be a better rating than poor or unfit for play which can bring in hefty sanction by the game's governing body.India won the second Test in Bengaluru by 75 runs after losing the first Test by 333 runs in Pune. The third Test begins in Ranchi tomorrow.
