<span style="color: #222222;">Union  Minister for Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat chaired in Bengaluru today the Regional Conference of six States and two union territories to review the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission. Later speaking to media the Minister said that before the Jal Jeevan Minission was launched, the country had only 17 percent tap water facility. <br />''<br />''Today the mission has provided nearly six crore tap water connections in the last two and half years covering 47 percent area despite challenges of Covid-19.   He urged the States to make this mission a mass  movement. <br />''<br />'' He further said that as on date over 9.13 crore  rural households are getting water through taps and 101 districts, 1,159 blocks, 67,547 gram panchayhats and 1,39,579 villages have become 'Har Ghar Jal' areas in the country. Under Jal Jeevan Mission 92,366 Village Water and Sanitation Committees have been constituted and 82,646 Village Action Plans have been developed in the participating States and union territory of Puducherry.<br />''<br />''Speaking in the Conference the  Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the Inter-State Water Dispute Act needs to be totally amended to over come the narrow political considerations over water disputes and making more water available for the people.</span><br />
