Bengaluru best city to live in India says global survey

India’s IT hub Bengaluru has been declared as the best city to live in India. The global Human Resource consultancy firm called Mercer has given Bengaluru the first place in India as a city, which provides best standard of living to its residents. But globally Bengaluru’s worldwide rank is positioned at 141st place out of a list of 221 cities surveyed by the firm.New Delhi is ranked 143rd, Mumbai 144th, Chennai 150th and Kolkata is placed at 151st position globally.AIR Bengaluru correspondent says social groups working together with city Municipal Corporation has made Bangalore relatively a better place to live in India. Bengaluru is home to nearly 8.5 million people. It has many national and international brands functioning here. But bad roads and traffic jams have marred the image of Bengaluru. Last month a long-awaited metro rail service was launched in the city.The citizen centric organisations, social groups and individual resident associations have worked hand in hand with City Municipal Corporation to keep the city going.Garbage collection, transport management and delivery of civic amenities have been made operational due to pressure groups formed in many localities of the city which remain constantly in touch with people’s representative to get government machinery rolling now and then.
