Bengal have won the Santosh Trophy for the 31st time. In the final of the 65th National Football Championship in Guwahati on Monday, the defending champions defeated Manipur by two goals to one.At half-time, the winners lead one-nil. In the last edition of the tournament, Bengal had defeated Punjab to lift the title for a record 30 times. Manipur were the winners of the coveted title in the year 2002.
