The West Bengal Government has urged the centre to declare the Murshidabad, Birhum and Nadia districts of the state as Maoists troubled districts. The Additional Director General of police in charge of law and order Mr. Surajit Kar Purokaystha told media in Kolkata on Monday that the Government has already sent a letter to the Union Home Ministry in this regard. Mr. Purokaystha said that apart from Jungle Mahal covering West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia the activities of Maoists are increasing in other districts also. Earlier The Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee reviewed the ongoing operations against Maoists at a high level meeting in Kolkata today.
