The West Bengal Government has rejected the proposal for setting up Nuclear Power Plant at Haripur in East Midnapur district. Giving this information, in the State Assembly on Wednesday, the Power Minister, Mr Manish Gupta said, the earlier Left Front Government had misled people on the matter. Mr Gupta categorically said that the new government of the State has no plan to set up Nuclear Power Plant in West Bengal. AIR Kolkata correspondent reports that the Trinamool Congress which is in the power now, had strongly opposed the projects during the regime of the previous Government for eviction of people from their land and environmental causes.
