Bengal polls; EC orders repelling in two polling booths

The Election Commission has ordered repolling in two polling booths in North Dinajpur at Coochbihar district of West Bengal on Wednesday. Giving this information in Kolkata, State Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Sunil Gupta said that repolling will take place in two polling booths in Karandighi assembly constituency in North Dinajpur and Nakawadi in Coochbihar district. The repolling has been ordered due to technical snag in electronic voting machine. Polling was held in these booths yesterday during the first phase of assembly elections in the state. AIR Kolkata correspondent reports that two polling personnel died of heart attack during their duties. State government has announced five lakh rupees compensation to the next of kins of the victims. Meanwhile, over 83 percent voting were recorded in the first phase of poll covering six North West Bengal district.
