West Bengal Government has taken number of steps to ensure the welfare of construction labourers. The State Chief Minister Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacharya said that these labourers are being brought under the schemes of pension and insurance. Speaking at a CITU backed gathering of construction labourers in Kolkataon Tuesday, he said, from now on grants will be given to construction labourers. This will be upto 1 lakh rupees in case of unnatural deaths and 30 thousand rupees in case of normal death. Laboureres above 60 years age will receive 500 rupees to 870 rupees as pension. Besides this, female labourers are going to receive maternity benefits and educational benefits for their children.
