Bengal gears up for phase 4 polls

Hectic campaigning is on for the fourth phase of Assembly elections in West Bengal, where voting is scheduled on 3rd of next month. Campaigning will come to a close on Sunday for 63 seats spread across Howrah, Hooghly, East Midnapore and parts of Burdwan districts. Election Commission has appointed, the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar, Sudhir Kumar Rakesh as a special observer for the fourth phase of elections. Addressing an election rally at Arambag in Hooghly district, West Bengal Chief Minister Budhadeb Bhattacharya has asserted that there will not be any compromise with rapid industrialisation of the state. He said there would not be another Singur if Left Front was again voted to power. Trinamool leader Mamta Banerji on the other hand reiterated her stand that, she is not against industrialisation, but her party will oppose forcible occupation of land and mainly the rich crop yielding land for the purpose.
