Campaigning for the fourth phase of assembly elections in West Bengal has reached feverish pitch even as Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and Trinamool Chief Mamta Banerji traded charges over the lack of industrialisation in the state. Campaigning will come to a close tomorrow for 63 seats spread across Howrah, Hooghly, East Midnapore and parts of Burdwan districts.Voting will take place on Tuesday.Earlier, addressing a number of public meetings, Chief Minster Buddhadeb Bhattacharya said, if returned to power the Left Front will go for massive industrialization. At an election rally at Khejuri in East Midnapore, he said, along with Haldia the tempo of industrialization will increase all over the state. Bhattacharya alleged in the rally that the Maoists had entered the state through Nandigram aided by the Trinamool Congress. On the other hand,Trinamool Chief Mamata Banerji also criss-crossed several constituencies in the four districts. Addressing a public meeting at Pandua in Burdwan district, she charged the ruling CPIM Party with bringing the States' finances to bankruptcy. Retorting to the alleged use of black money by Trinamool, Mamta Banerji claimed that the state's coffers were used to build CPM party offices across the state.Central and State BJP leaders are also intensively campaigning in Howrah and Hooghly districts, where the party has fielded a large number of candidates.Meanwhile, Senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee today rubbished the demand for a judicial inquiry by Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and his party into the political conspiracy behind the arms drop in Purulia 16 years ago. Talking to reporters in Kolkata, he said, an accused is levelling allegation and a hue and cry is being raised on that basis. Noting that CBI had investigated the case and submitted its report, Mukherji said that the incident had taken place on the midnight of December 17-18, 1995 and after that there was a non-Congress government in Delhi for eight years.
