The West Bengal Government has decided to cancel the acquisition of the 1,587 acres of land at Rajarhat Township near Kolkatta. Announcing this in Kolkata on Friday night, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the notification issued by the previous Left Front Government for acquiring the land will be withdrawn. She said the previous Government had forcibly acquired over 6,800 acres of land from un-willing farmers at Rajarhat for the township.
